*12/10/07 - We're in the middle of the holidays and the year's pretty much gone - how does that happen? Linc's taking a bit of a hiatus, while Alan will be starting up work again on his solo album around the first of the year. There will be another new Gravity Tree song release in the winter, and Alan's solo CD will release around mid-year 2008, we think. If you've been putting your search engines into overdrive in search of all things Gravity Tree, you might have tracked down a mysterious, singular web page that might hold a clue to the next Gravity Tree album. But it's far too early to spill the beans on that one...unless of course we just did ;-) ...Happy Holidays, everyone, and stay safe.
In case you got here through an external link, Welcome to the Official Gravity Tree website! This is a great page to start from to find out about the latest music news from prog rock duo GRAVITY TREE. Once your up-to-date from the info. below, you can use the links above to navagate to other pages on the site. Make sure to visit our MySpace page if you haven't already. You can join our friends, read our blog, hear samples of our CDs and buy downloads if you like what you hear.
*09/04/07 - Need some new prog rock? We're releasing a new song - a single, if you will - this month. This one will have a certain blues form to it; but of course we break that with odd time signatures a-plenty, a non-traditional scale and one very outside guitar solo. it's a web-only release, so don't go to CDBaby to look for it. Instead, check our download page or hop over to our MySpace profile around mid-September to download the song!
*08/13/07 - If you put off buying ULTIMATE BACKWARD at Big Balloon, you missed a great deal. They're all gone - sorry. BUT you can still find it at CDBaby and other fine stores.
Also, ULTIMATE BACKWARD has received another great review, this time from USA Progressive Music. While we're not sure they understood the point of our instrumental piece "Wait", we know all of our NumberOneMusic fans do; it's been sitting in the Top 10 on this week's Progressive Chart!
*07/07/07 -
In case you haven't heard, prog rock store Big Balloon Music is going out of business. Sad, but true. They are blowing out all their remaining CD stock, and that means there are a few copies of ULTIMATE BACKWARD up for grabs at the low price of $7.70 US. That's the same price as what some download sites are selling digital-only copies. Very good indeed. But we're going to miss Big Balloon - a truly unique shop.
*07/01/07 - It's been more than a year now, but the Gravity Tree songs "Life or Dessert?" and "Harmonic Indulgence" still stand at number 1 and number 2 on NumberOneMusic.com's All-Time Progressive Chart. That's the ALL-TIME chart, if you can believe it. We're honored (and a bit stunned) that it's been such a long ride for two of our favorite songs from the album "LIFE OR DESSERT?". There are a LOT of great bands at N1M, so it's really something to stay on top of an entire genre of musicians and artists there. All we can say to our fans who made that happen is: THANK YOU! *05/15/07 - Did you miss the USAProgMusic.com Interview & Live Chat? It was an interesting session, to be sure. You've missed your opportunity for questions - and just where were you? ;-) Fortunately, you can still read Monday's interview with Alan HERE. Happy reading, and watch for more events like this from our MySpace profile and Blog. *05/11/07 - GRAVITY TREE LIVE CHAT + INTERVIEW Prog website USA Progressive Music is hosting Gravity Tree's own drummer and keyboardist for a live chat and interview on Monday, May 14 at 6pm Pacific Time, 9pm Eastern. The chat's at www.usaprogmusic.com. Be sure to head over and ask any and all Gravity Tree / prog rock questions you feel like, or just say "Hello...How are you?". Here's the official announcement from usaprogmusic.com: ...and of course, you can always talk to us on MySpace; make a friend request, comment on our blog or just listen to the mp3's.
*03/13/07 - SERVER CHANGES... Change is almost always a good thing we think; so we're moving gravitytree.com to new servers. You won't notice a difference, unless you happen to attempt visiting our lovely site when 'the things they are a changin' is going on. Then, you'll meet our lovely and talented 404 message page - or nothing. We wanted to let you know that we're not fading away, we're just skipping over to a new web host, and while that's happening there may be some unexpected downtime. 48 hours from now, we'll all be laughing about it, I'm sure. But it may get a little ugly between now and then, and if you want to turn away for a moment, we'll understand. Besides, it'll give you a chance to visit our MySpace page, which we know you've been meaning to do for some time now, right?... *01/17/07 - ULTIMATE -LY HAPPY NEW YEAR! A new year is always a good time to change things up. We've been looking for one great place to put our blog, so we can do a little less site updates and a little more music. And while this page has been very popular, we're going to consolidate ourselves a bit, and post most - if not all - future Gravity Tree news at our MySpace Blog. Let's face it, everyone's over there already (even some of us prog folks). So we might as well join the club - only just this once; we promise to be experimental, unique and somewhat remote the rest of the time. While you're over there, be sure to put in your friend request. Also, note that our main profile isn't quite as cool looking as our blog. We're working on it! The rest of this site will remain live and ever-changing. So we're not completely spacing out (was that a pun?). Thanks, once more, for all your interest!
...and that link again to our new blog: * *12/29/06 - ULTIMATE BACKWARD is on iTunes! If you prefer an iPod over a regular CD player, "Ultimate Backward" is now at the iTunes Music Store.
*12/27/06 - ULTIMATE BACKWARD is at Big Balloon Music! They currently have it on sale at the lowest price we've seen so far. We're very excited to be in this popular progressive rock-focused music store. Also, in case you missed the news at the top of the home page, we're able to now offer our music as MP3 downloads on our MySpace page. So if you don't need the physical CD, and maybe your portable music player isn't a certain popular brand, here's your chance to score music from "Life or Dessert?" and "Ultimate Backward". As a bonus, there's a previously unreleased song on MySpace.com/gravitytree, which Alan has posted as the first release from his upcoming solo project. Be sure to check it out!
*12/18/06 - ULTIMATE BACKWARD is at CDBaby! (It was actually there last week, but sold out - so for those who've tried to buy and found them out of stock, our apologies.) We're also doing some web advertising, so in the next few weeks you should see our new banner (below) at web radio pages and sites that specialize in progressive music. Ads aren't always fun we know, but it's a way for us to let more people know about ULTIMATE BACKWARD, and we won't run those mega-huge animated banners that bring your browser to a grinding halt. Ours is small and to the point. The link from the banner takes you directly to our ULTIMATE BACKWARD page at CDBaby. *12/12/06 - ULTIMATE BACKWARD is shipping! It's available now from our friends at IndieRhythm.com. Click this link to get your copy today!
12/05/06 - The new CD from Gravity Tree, ULTIMATE BACKWARD, is here! Starting December 12, you'll be seeing it show up in some of your favorite online stores. Our distribution takes a bit longer than the big-time labels, so it probably won't hit some of the shops, like iTunes for instance, for a few weeks yet. But if you have to get a copy for someone for the holidays, email us and we'll help get it to you in time to giftwrap!
You'll soon be able to find ULTIMATE BACKWARD anywhere you'd find our last CD, LIFE OR DESSERT?. You can check this site's Store List page for the more than 2000 stores that carry Gravity Tree CDs on special order. If you haven't heard any of the new CD yet, you can preview them before buying it: song clips are on our page at
NUMBERONEMUSIC.COM. Fans have already been raving about what they've heard so far, and we'll be posting some reviews as soon as we can.
Last but not least, you'll notice a lot of old logs missing from this page. We're in the process of upgrading the site, and hopefully it won't look worse before it looks better! Eventually you'll be able to find some of the more pertinent entries in an archive page. But for now, less is more...
We also wanted to make sure you checked out the Store List page because we've updated it to include many of the 2000+ stores in the US and around the world that will carry Gravity Tree CDs on special order. So everyone who doesn't shop on the web can now walk into a store near them (relatively speaking at least) and special order our music!PROG LIVE - Join Alan Nu, drummer/synthesist for Gravity Tree on Monday, May 14 at 6 p.m. PST/9 p.m. EST in the Prog Live Interview chat room on www.usaprogmusic.com (click on the Chat link, then the Rooms tab). Ask him questions for an hour to learn more about him and his band's music! You must be a registered user of the site, so please register today for FREE.
Prog rock duo Gravity Tree offers their long-awaited, new music experiment: an entree of sound design sprinkled with 16th note triplets, served up on a hot plate of modern guitar-drenched flavors; this chef's special has no choice of dessert this time, however. It's all or nothing...it's musical anti-matter...
ULTIMATE BACKWARD.
08/16/06 - We've added another sample from the new CD, ULTIMATE BACKWARD at NUMBERONEMUSIC.COM. Their site's had a lot of server issues lately, and we've actually delayed some announcements because so many Gravity Tree fans use their mailing list. We want to make sure we can tell everyone at once, so we're trying to wait it out a bit there. In the meantime, we'll be posting a new clip from ULTIMATE BACKWARD at their site (as server stability allows) every week or so. So be sure to check back for more sneek peaks.
